A 17-year-old Pine Bluff boy identified as a suspect in the shooting death of another teenager on July 15 will be held without bond while prosecutors prepare capital murder charge against him.

Kylon Bead surrendered to police Monday after and has been held at the juvenile detention center pending a court appearance Wednesday.

Bead was being sought after he was identified as one of the people involved in the shooting at 3600 East Lake Drive that resulted in the victim being pronounced dead at the scene and a second person, Archiles Glover, 18, being wounded. Glover is being held on charges of conspiracy to commit capital murder and other allegations.

Deputy Prosecutor Joe West described the incident as a confrontation between two opposing gangs.

Detective Corey Wilfong reported that after Bead was identified as a suspect, police attempted to locate him at his house on July 15 and July 18 but were unsuccessful and Bead’s mother said he had not bene home since the day of the shooting July 15.

Bead refused to identify the other people who were involved in the shooting.

In addition to the capital murder allegation, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth ruled prosecutors have probable cause to charge Bead with one count of possession of a firearm by a minor and two counts of first-degree battery, one for the incident involving the victim in April, the second for the wounding of Glover on July 15.

Bead was told to come back to court Aug. 28.
