A $50,000 bond was set Tuesday for a Pine Bluff man with multiple prior felony convictions who allegedly threatened the mother of his child with a gun.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge George Jenkins, 45, with first-degree terroristic threatening.

During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said the probable cause affidavit did not mention if a gun had been found but if it had, Jenkins could also be charged with aggravated assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm. His prior convictions include attempted murder, felon in possession of a firearm, residential burglary and others.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Mike Merritt, Carson said police were sent to 2014 Reed Street and when they arrived, heard screaming and yelling from inside the residence.

When Jenkins was interviewed, he said he and the victim had argued and she “got in his face: but denied having a gun or pointing one at her.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court Jan. 30.
