A $5,000 cash-only bond was set Monday for a White Hall man accused of trying to cash a stolen check Friday.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Demarcus Love, 32, with forgery.

Reading from an affidavit from Detective Natalie McCool, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said officers were sent to Reliance Bank on South Olive Street where the manager identified Love as the person who attempted to cash a check that had been reported stolen and the account closed.

Carson said Love has pending charges of first-degree battery and endangering the welfare of a minor stemming from an arrest in 2019. He was told to come back to court on Jan. 25.
