Two suspects are in custody as a result of a police investigation into the shooting death of a juvenile Monday afternoon.

Pine Bluff Police Chief Lloyd Franklin Sr., told Deltaplex News about the arrests when he appeared on the Oldies 101.3 morning show Tuesday.

Franklin said that one of those arrested is a juvenile, while the other is an adult.

The intake log at the adult detention center shows that Darrion Deshawn Williams, 20, was booked in at 3:20 a.m. on probable cause of first-degree murder pending an expected court appearance Wednesday.

The 17-year-old juvenile, who police have not identified because of his age was found shot to death at 28th Avenue and Elm Street at about 1 p.m. The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.

Franklin was asked if this incident was gang related and responded this way.

He said the female in the car was not injured and her relationship is not clear at this point.

Franklin also said this homicide, which was the 8th of the year in Pine Bluff, doesn’t appear to be connected to a homicide that occurred Saturday at 720 W. 26th Ave., which resulted in the death of an adult male. No arrests have been made in that case so far.
