Three Jefferson County residents were arrested Monday in connection with the theft of copper wire belonging to AT&T.

Cecil Martin, Katrina Stover and Paul Lackey were taken into custody after police responded to a call about a suspicious person in the 5700 block of Shannon Road.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Dante Nicholson, Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel explained the circumstances that led to the arrest.

Nicholson reported that the witness told police they saw Lackey come out of the woods with wire wrapped around his arm and when Stover was questioned, said she had helped Lackey take the wire.

Martin was also questioned and Akel explained what he said.

Lackey is currently on probation in three cases and Akel said prosecutors would be filing paperwork to revoke that probation. Because of that, Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 cash only bond.

Martin and Stover, who have no prior convictions, will each have a bond of $25,000 and all three were told to come back to court Feb. 28.
