A reported disturbance between a male and female outside a business in Pine Bluff Wednesday resulted in the man’s arrest after a civilian intervened to protect the woman.

Kendrick Oglesby, 32, who has several prior felony convictions were taken into custody after police responded to a reported disturbance at 9:30 a.m.

Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said during a court hearing Friday police talked to one of the victims who were in the parking lot of Super 1 Foods. He said he was sitting in the parking lot on the east side of the business when he heard a commotion and turned to see what was happening.

The female told police she owed Oglesby, who she called Poo money for drugs, and gave Oglesby’s brother $400 after she came out of the bank. She said Oglesby confronted her inside the tobacco store and asked her to come outside and when she did, she said Oglesby started pulling her toward his house and was upset about the amount of money he received.

Detective Chris Wieland reported that when Oglesby was questioned, he said the woman did owe him money. He denied having a gun and then said this.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $100,000 bond for Oglesby Friday after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was ordered to have no contact with the victims until the case is settled.
