A Little Rock man who has pending felony charges in Pulaski County was arrested Saturday after a high-speed chase on Interstate 530 ended with the man wrecking the car he was driving.

During a court hearing Monday, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said Braylan Smith, 23, is currently out on bond on that felony allegation.

Carson said Trooper James Harrell was on Interstate 530 at the 28-mile marker sitting stationary when he saw a red Dodge Charger approaching in the left lane and there was no other traffic in the right lane.

Harrell reported that he activated his emergency lights and siren and notified Troop E dispatch that he was going to try and catch up to the red Dodge Charger.

Carson said Smith told troopers that he was traveling between 100 and 120 miles per hour and lost control at the bottom of the ramp while trying to turn.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $1,500 cash-only bond for Smith after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with felony fleeing. Smith said he would hire his own attorney.
