A $5,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff woman accused of stealing clothing and shoes in two different incidents.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Towana Rice, 46 with two counts of theft of property.

Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said the two counts are each Class C felonies.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Jason Boykin, Reed explained the allegation in the first case.

She then discussed the second allegation against Rice.

Police reported that Rice was seen on the parking lot of the Dollar General at Jefferson Square about two and-a-half hours after the alleged theft at the shoe store and she was found hiding in the back of a vehicle. The two pairs of shoes were also found in the vehicle.

Rice was ordered to come back to court May 3.
