A $25,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man currently on parole after suspected drugs were found in the vehicle the man was driving.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Courtney Allen, 42, with possession of a controlled substance.

Reading from an affidavit by State Trooper Jonathan Nut, Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said Nutt was sitting on Interstate 530 near the Redfield exit.

Reed said Allen has an extensive history including a 2019 conviction for which he is on parole and listed as an absconder.

Allen entered a plea of guilty to misdemeanor charges of speeding 94 in a75-mile-per-hour zone, driving on a suspended license and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. He said he would hire his own attorney and was told to come back to court May 3.
