A $5,000 bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man on drug related charges.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Edward Smith, 41, with possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver.

Reading from an affidavit from White Hall Police Maj. Mickey Buffkin, Deput Prosecutor Joe West described the circumstances that led to Smith’s arrest.

West said Smith has no prior felony convictions but did have several failures to appear in district courts. He was told to come back to court Dec. 21 and said he would hire his own attorney.
