A $50,000 cash only bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man who allegedly beat and threatened another man Thursday.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Eugene Farris, 45, with second-degree battery and first-degree terroristic threatening.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Mike Merritt, Deputy Prosecutor Joe West said police were sent to a reported battery.

West said the victim in the allegation is over the age of 60.

Court records showed that Farris has multiple prior convictions and is on bond on a pending charge. Prosecutors are expected to file paperwork to revoke that bond.

Farris said he would hire his own attorney and was told to come back to court Sept. 7.
