A $50,000 bond was set Monday for a Yorktown man previously convicted of a felony after a loaded handgun was found on the man when he was searched.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Jarrod Bratton, 41, with being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a defaced firearm.

During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Joe West explained what happened.

West said Bratton has a previous conviction for criminal mischief and theft of property. He was told to come back to court Dec. 27.
