A $50,000 bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man accused of leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in a death.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond for Thompson Ferrel Cousins, 61, who was taken into custody following the accident which was reported at about 9 p.m. at 24th Avenue and Olive Street.

The victim was identified as Larry Davis, 62, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputy Prosecutor Joe West told the court what witnesses saw.

West said police talked to Cousins and reported what he said.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Cousins and he was told to come back to court June 9.
Cousins had originally been booked into the jail on probable cause of second-degree murder but West said at this point, the more appropriate charge is leaving the scene of an accident involving a death.
