A $50,000 secured bond was set for 42-year-old Chad Avants of Redfield after being accused of throwing a sword at his son causing injury.

Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson read a probable cause affidavit by Detective Terri Patterson who stated that on June 10th at about 4:30 pm officers were called to 1101 Sheridan Road where they spoke to the victim, Clayton Avants.

She went on to describe his injuries and the sword.

Carson went on to say that Avants has an open case pending in Cleveland County.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney ruled prosecutors have probable cause to charge Avants with domestic battery in the second and a no-contact order was granted for the victim. The public defender’s office was appointed to represent him and he was told to return to court July 18th.
