A $25,000 cash only bond was set Wednesday for a Hot Springs man with multiple prior felony convictions who allegedly hit the windshield of a vehicle containing his wife and daughter, breaking the glass and injuring the daughter.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Clifford Chambers, 56, with second offense third-degree domestic battery, a felony.

Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said during the court hearing that Chambers was arrested after police were called to the Wal-Mart Super Center Monday at 3:50 p.m. in response to a reported armed disturbance.

Police reported seeing glass inside the vehicle on the dash and the victim had glass on her clothing.

Akel said Chambers has multiple prior felony convictions dating back to 1993 and is out on bond on a pending cash.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victims and told to come back to court Oct. 23. He said he would hire his own lawyer.
