A Pine Bluff man who was released from prison recently and is listed as an absconder was arrested Tuesday after a high-speed chase by a sheriff’s deputy in the Dollarway area.

Christopher Adams, 50, was taken into custody after the car he was driving hit a Pine Bluff Police car that had joined the pursuit, resulting in damage to the car and injuries to the police officer.

During a court hearing Thursday, Deputy Prosecutor Joe West said Adams was driving a silver Ford Focus in the Dollarway area when the deputy saw that Adams was not wearing a seat belt.

West said after hitting the police car, the Ford stopped.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $25,000 bond for Adams after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with felony fleeing. He was also charged with multiple misdemeanor traffic offenses and pleaded guilty to them. He was told to come back to court on the felony allegation Oct. 31.
