A $250,000 bond was set Thursday for two Pine Bluff men accused of robbing another man Nov. 1.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Eric Adams, 21, and Jason Lawrence, 21, with aggravated robbery, theft of property and second-degree battery.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Laquincia Smith, Deput Prosecutor Beth Carson said on Nov. 1, police were sent to a residence on South Poplar Street in response to a reported robbery. Police interviewed the victim who was a 67-year-old disabled male.

Carson said police obtained video footage from an ATM which showed a female getting cash and using the victims credit card which had been in the wallet that was stolen. When the female was questioned, she said she got the card from Lawrence and a person she knew only as E.J. who told her that it had been a “good lick,” meaning a robbery where cash and a gun had been stolen. E.J. was later identified as Eric Adams.

Adams and Lawrence were ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court Dec. 15. They each said they would hire their own attorneys.
