A $100,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man previously convicted of several felonies after a loaded gun was found in the vehicle the man was driving.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Marcus Pugh, 28, with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Reading from an affidavit by State Police Special Agent Scott Rosegrant, Deputy Prosecutor Shana Alexander said at about 5:45 p.m. Friday, Department of Correction personnel had set up a checkpoint at the Tucker unit.

Alexander said Pugh had previous convictions in 2014 for residential burglary and is no longer on parole.

He said he would hire his own attorney and was told to come back to court Nov. 16th.
