The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff golf team saw its third action of the season this past weekend, traveling east Friday through Sunday and finishing tied for second in the Alabama A&M Fall Invite at the RTJ at Hampton Cove Golf Course.

The Golden Lions finished in a three-way tie, shooting 589 with their best finish of the fall season.

Sophomore Li Su led the way for UAPB, finishing tied for sixth overall, with a score of 144, shooting +2 over par on day one and -1 under par 71 in the final round for an even par.

Freshman Angel Perez rounded out the top 15 and finished 11th with a score of 146 (75, 71), shooting +2 over par for the tournament.

Freshman Ismael Garcia placed tied for 19th with a score of 149 (77, 72), shooting + over par.

Junior Patrick Mwendapole and Jamie Moliner rounded out, placing tied for 34th overall with a score of 152.

“The team fought hard but came up short against a good Leigh team, “said UAPB head coach Roger Totten.  Li Su and Angel Perez, our newcomers, had a really good tournament, despite some of our top golfers from last season not playing their best.  But overall, I’m proud of the program, and we will be ready as we head to our final invitational for the fall.”

The Golden Lions will travel to the SWAC Invitational Nov 16-18 in Birmingham, Alabama, to wrap up the fall season.
