PINE BLUFF, AR – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s Kayla Adams has been named Co-Freshman of the Year and First-Team All-Conference by the Southwestern Athletic Conference following her stellar performance throughout the season.

Adams, a true freshman, is currently one of the best pitchers in NCAA softball. She made history by becoming the first freshman in her school’s history to join the 10-win club at the halfway point of the season. She has already struck out over 190 batters and counting. In addition, Adams set several school records by striking out 16 batters against Grambling St. and reaching the 100.

She leads the conference in three categories: ERA (1.51), Opposing Batting Avg. (.175), and Batters Struck Out (194). Adams also ranks 7th in the nation in strikeouts per game, with an average of 9.9 and 10th in the nation in total strikeouts.

Behind the arm of Adams, the Lady Lions have punched their ticket to their first postseason tournament berth since the 2019 season.
