UAPB Softball Headed to 2024 SWAC Tournament
The Southwestern Athletic Conference has announced its 2024 SWAC Softball Tournament seedings following the conclusion of regular season play and the UAPB Lady Lions made the cut as #4 seed from the western division.
Prairie View A&M earned the #1 overall seed with a 23-1 conference record and will represent the western division’s top seed. Florida A&M (19-5) earned the #1 seed from the east and will face the Lady Lions in the first round.
True freshman pitcher Kayla Adams continues to make waves in the collegiate softball world, as she leads the SWAC in ERA (1.51), Opposing Batting Average (.175), Strikeouts (194), and is fifth in the conference with 12 wins. The Lady Lions are hitting .239 as a team and is led by Amari Broughton batting at a .336 clip. Samaria Jackson leads UAPB in homeruns with 4, eighth best in the SWAC.

The tournament will be played in a double-elimination format with action set to start at 10:30 a.m. CST on Tuesday, May 7th with games slated to run through May 10th.
The Lady Lions open tournament play Tuesday, May 7th, at 3:30pm at the Gulfport Sportsplex in Gulfport, MS. Video coverage will be live on the SWAC Digital Network and the radio broadcast will be carried live on the UAPB Sports Network on Deltaplex Radio’s 99.3fm The Beat.
