The weather has wreaked havoc across the country and nowhere has that had more of an effect than on the 2022 King Cotton Holiday Basketball tournament scheduled to begin today at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.

Organizers had arranged for out-of-state teams to fly into Little Rock on Southwest Airlines, which canceled 70 percent of its flights, and Ryan Watley, CEO of Go Forward Pine Bluff was asked Tuesday if that had an effect on teams’ travel arrangements.

Watley said one team has had to cancel because of the weather and currently, 14 of the 16 teams committed are in Pine Bluff and a part of a 15th. He said he hopes the rest of that team can make it here.

Because of the travel delays, the start time was pushed back to 11:30, Watley said.
