Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth found probable cause to hold a White Hall man on drug-related charges.
According to testimony presented in court, a White Hall police officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Sheridan Road at approximately 4:45 a.m. June 6 when he stopped a vehicle after a license check returned unconfirmed insurance information.
Prosecutors said the driver initially provided a false name before later identifying himself as Sayvon Jordan. Court testimony indicated officers then learned Jordan had an outstanding warrant and detained him.
Authorities told the court that Jordan acknowledged there was methamphetamine inside a blue container in a black backpack in the vehicle. During a search, officers reportedly located syringes, needles and a crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine.
Prosecutors said Jordan later admitted ownership of the backpack and identified the substance as methamphetamine.
The state requested a $10,000 secured bond, noting that Jordan also has another pending case in Jefferson County.
Following the hearing, the judge found probable cause to proceed and set bond at $10,000 secured. Jordan was ordered to return to court July 29.
