A $5,000 cash bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff woman accused of driving off and leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury to the other driver.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge 33-year-old Jeannie Stivers with Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injury.
Reading from an affidavit, the Prosecuting Attorney said on June 3rd, Officer Jay Smith was dispatched to the intersection of Dollarway and Price St. in reference to a pedestrian vs vehicle accident. It was later determined that the accident occurred at the intersection of Cheatham and Price St.
Upon arrival, Officer smith observed a white female laying on the ground with obvious head trauma. Witnesses on scene identified Stivers, who was driving a grey SUV, stating she backed into the victim causing her injury.
After striking the victim, Stivers fled the scene without attempting to administer aid, provide insurance information or contact the police. The victim was taken by Ambulance to JRMC, and it was determined she needed staples in her head. Stivers was located at The Holiday Inn and was taken into custody.
Stivers has a prior conviction for Possession of Controlled substances and an open pending case which the court will ask for the bond to be revoked.
She is scheduled to return to court.
