A high-speed chase in the early morning hours Saturday resulted in the arrest of two men who allegedly fired shots at sheriff’s deputies chasing them.

Calvin Honorable. 34, Raynard Simmons, 38, were taken into custody after the vehicle they were in stopped in a driveway on Taft Street.

Deputy Prosecutor Lisa McGriff said Deputy Lowery reported that he was attempting to catch up to a vehicle that was traveling toward Camden Road from Taft Street. Tri-County Drug Task Force Agents Dennis Kendall and Investigator Morgan Carter were in another vehicle and responded to assist.

Reading from an affidavit by Kendall, McGriff explained what happened.

McGriff said Kendall reported speeds of more than 100 miles per hour during the pursuit and said the vehicle ran several red lights and stop signs.

Kendall and Carter went back to the area where the shots were fired and found three nine-millimeter shell casings that matched the type of ammunition found in the nine-millimeter handgun found in the car.

McGriff said Honorable is a convicted felon and Simmons has no prior convictions.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $150,000 bond for Honorable after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with being a felon in possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm from a vehicle. A $75,000 bond was set for Simmons on probable cause of felony fleeing and discharging a firearm from a vehicle. Both men were told to come back to court Feb. 5.
