A $50,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man accused of hitting his wife during an altecation, and damaging a police car after he had been arrested.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge James O’Neil, 29, with aggravated assault on a family or household member, second offense third-degree domestic battery and first-degree criminal mischief.

Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, police were sent to a house on West 31st Avenue in response to a reported domestic disturbance.

Carson said O’Neil continued to kick at the cage in the patrol unit.

O’Neil was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court April 15.
