A $50k bond was set for a Pine Bluff man accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm

A $50,000 bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man currently on parole who was arrested after police found the man with a handgun.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Carl Davis, 40, with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Dante Nicholson, Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel explaind the allegation against Davis.

Akel said Davis has prior convictions including for first-degree battery and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was told to come back to court April 12.

Davis will also be held without bond on a warrant alleging he violated terms of his parole and will he given a hearing on that allegation.
