A $50,000 bond was set Tuesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of injuring a police officer who was attempting to arrest him.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Bryheem Jones, 22, with second-degree battery.

Jones was taken into custody after police responded to the Brierwood Inn Sunday in response to a reported disturbance in one of the rooms.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Mike Merritt, Deputy Prosecutor Joe West explained the allegation against Jones.

West said the officer was taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital where he was treated and released. Because of his combative actions, Jones was not interviewed.

Jones was ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case is settled and told to come back to court Jan. 30.
