A White Hall man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly hit another man during an altercation.

Matthew Mitchell, 70, was taken into custody after police responded to a house on Taylor Drive, Deputy Prosecutor Joe West said during a court hearing Friday.

West explained the events that led to the arrest based on an affidavit by Detective Jason Boykin.

The victim in the incident is over the age of 60, West said.

Because of that, Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $20,000 bond for Mitchell after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with second-degree battery. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court Jan. 10.
