A $15,000 cash only bond was set Tuesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of kicking a hospital employee who was trying to treat him for a gunshot wound.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Mario Marchbanks, 42, with second-degree battery.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Sgt. Keith Banks, Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel told the court what Marchbanks was accused of doing.

Akel said Marchbanks has pending charges of possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court April 16.
