A $15,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man who fled from Arkansas State Police after a traffic stop Sunday.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Antonio Schaeffer, 33, with fleeing.

Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said a state trooper was patrolling on U.S. 65B and ran the license plate of a white Dodge Challenger which showed that the driver potentially had a suspended driver’s license. The trooper conducted a traffic stop and the driver pulled into the parking lot of the HR Mart.

Schaeffer was taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital where he refused to give a urine sample and after being released, was taken to the jail where he was booked on multiple misdemeanor traffic charges in addition to the felony fleeing. He was told to come back to court May 10.
