An investigation into attempts to smuggle contraband into the jail that began in November resulted in the arrest of a Pine Bluff man Thursday.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Investigators took Andew Harris, 47, into custody and his first court appearance Friday in Pine Bluff District Court.

Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said on Nov. 19, Investigator Charles White was notified that suspicious packages had been dropped off at the bail bondsman’s window at the jail.

District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Harris after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with furnishing prohibited articles. He was told to come back to court Jan. 10.
