A $10,000 bond was set Monday for a White Hall man accused of letting a pit bull attack a police officer and a witness to the incident.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Eric Benoit, 59, with aggravated assault on a family or household member and aggravated assault.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Sgt. Keith Banks, Deputy Prosecutor Lisa McGriff said on Saturday at 9:21 a.m., an officer was sent to 5000 Jefferson Parkway to assist Sgt. Shenea Jackson who had responded to a disturbance call. While enroute, Sgt. Jackson came on the radio and reported shots fired.

While on the scene, police talked to a witness to the incident.

Benoit was ordered to have no contact wit the victims and told to come back to court April 26.
