A $50,000 cash bond was set Friday for an Alexander man accused of having a machine gun, marijuana, and a scale in his car after being pulled over for driving with expired tags.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge 26-year-old Teon Johnson with Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons, Violation of the Uniform Machine Gun act, and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Purpose.

Reading from an affidavit by Officer Colby Johnson, Prosecuting Attorney S Kyle Hunter said an officer went to do a traffic stop on a grey Hyundai Elantra in White Hall for expired tags.

While detained, Johnson admitted to having drugs, paraphernalia and weapons in the car. He has prior felony convictions and is scheduled to return to court.
