A $50,000 cash-only bond was set Tuesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of firing a shot at a police officer last week.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Jaylen Williams, 22, with aggravated assault on a police officer.

Williams has been locked up since Wednesday but until Tuesday, refused to come out of his cell so he could be seen in court.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Corey Wilfong, Deputy Prosecutor Lisa McGriff said on March 29, Officer Kirsten Pennington was sent to 6603 Thrasher in response to a reported domestic disturbance and spoke to Williams’s parents.

McGriff said Pine Bluff Police Officers and Detectives, Arkansas State Police, and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and surrounded the house.

McGriff said Williams has pending charges of aggravated robbery and property theft. Terroristic threatening and aggravated assault.

He said he would hire his attorney and was told to return to court on May 8.
