A $40,000 cash-only bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of fleeing from police and threatening to kill them.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Cameron Langel, 28, with felony fleeing and terroristic threatening.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Jeremy Crosby, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said Crosby and another detective were patrolling when they saw a vehicle driven by Langel fail to stop at a stop sign. When they attempted a traffic stop, Langel fled and a pursuit ensued through multiple neighborhoods at speeds of up to 75 miles per hour.

Carson said other drivers were pulling to the curb to get out of the way and Langel ran multiple stop signs before finally coming to a complete stop.

When he was taken to the adult detention center, he refused to give information or sign the tickets for the traffic violations.

Carson said Langel has several prior felony convictions and two cases pending including being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was told to come back to court on July 5.
