A $25,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Jefferson County woman currently on probation who allegedly chased a man with a knife and threatened to kill him.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Julie Chambers, 31, with aggravated assault on a family or household member and terroristic threatening.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Sheriff’s Lt. Kaylon McDaniel, Deputy Prosecutor Caleb Conrad said McDaniel responded to a reported armed disturbance in the 2100 block of Surfside Lane Monday.

The male victim said Chambers had attacked him and chased him with a knife, then told McDaniel how the incident started.

McDaniel took photos of the injuries to the victim’s arm and after Chambers was taken to the adult detention center, he and Investigator Sandra Harper conducted a recorded interview with Chambers who denied chasing the victim with a knife and denied biting him.

Conrad said Chambers was convicted of third-degree domestic battery in September 2020 and is on probation. She was ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case is settled.
