A $10,000 cash only bond was set Tuesday for a Pine Bluff man previously convicted of a felony who was arrested Sunday after he allegedly pointed a gun at two people.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Andrew Boykin Jr., 32, with aggravated assault, criminal use of a prohibited weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Reading from an affidavit by police Detective Jason Boykin, Deputy Prosecutor Shana Alexander said at 8:39 p.m. police responded to the Beech Street Apartments.

Alexander said police found Boykin in the apartment and also found a sawed-off shotgun. When he was questioned, he denied pointing a gun at anyone but said he knew about the shotgun because he had found it in the street.

Boykin was convicted of aggravated robbery in 2009 and has a pending charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm for which he is out on bond. Because he failed to appear in court in July 2022, that bond has been set aside and he will be held without bond pending an appearance before Circuit Judge Rob Wyatt.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victims until the case is settled and told to come back to court Aug. 11.
