A 64-year-old man described as a “career criminal” was arrested Thursday after he allegedly stole a wallet from a nurse at Jefferson Regional Hospital.

Ricky Cogswell was identified from security video at the hospital, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing Friday.

Reading from an affidavit from Detective Sgt. Mike Roberts, Kizer explained the circumstances of the charge.

Kizer then went on to explain the “career criminal.”

Special Judge Phillip Green set a $10,000 bond for Cogswell after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with theft of property. Cogswell said he would hire his own attorney.
