A $10,000 bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man accused of fleeing from police on Wednesday in a high-speed chase through the central part of the city.

Special judge Phillip Green set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Hamilton Jackson III, 25, with felony fleeing and endangering the welfare of at least six minors.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Chris Wieland, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said officers on patrol saw a 2003 vehicle driven by Jackson run a stop sign. When they attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, and a pursuit that lasted 15 to 20 minutes ensued.

When Jackson was questioned, he admitted to running from police and realized that the children in the vehicle were not restrained.

Jackson was ordered to have no contact with the children until the case is settled and told to come back to court on Feb. 3. He said he would hire his own attorney.
