A $10,000 bond was set Friday for a Hot Springs man accused of tampering with the identification number of a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Clifford Chambers, 55, with altering or changing engine or other numbers.

Reading from an affidavit by State Trooper Shane Caviness, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer told the court what Chambers is accused of.

Kizer said Chambers has previous convictions for similar charges in 2006 and 2013. Chambers said he would hire his own attorney and was told to come back to court June 30.
