A White Hall man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly fired shots at a wrecker driver who was attempting to repossess a vehicle in the Dollarway area.
David Bryant, 52, will have to post a $100,000 bond to be released from the adult detention center after Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth ruled Friday prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with four counts of committing a terroristic act and with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Reading from an affidavit from Detective Jason Boykin, Deputy Prosecutor Jay Gerard said police were sent to the area of Phillips and Jones Streets on March 26 and talked to the victim.
The victim said the vehicle he was to repossess was found at 6301 Jones and he was about to pull off with it when a male came out of the house and started shooting.
Police also located a witness who said he had been asleep when he heard gunshots in his front yard. Gerard then reported what else the witness said.
The victim identified a photo of Bryant taken from his wife’s Facebook page and when they went to his residence in White Hall, located two handguns, a nine-millimeter, and a .45-caliber on a table under some fabric. A records check showed that Bryant was a convicted felon and he was arrested.
Bryant was ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case is settled and to come back to court on May 18.
