Pine Bluff Police Chief Lloyd Franklin, Jr. spoke with Greg Horne about the shooting incident.


The Pine Bluff Police Department has issued the following release regarding the shooting at Pine Bluff High School:

At a little after 2:45 PM, a Pine Bluff police officer working off duty at Pine Bluff High School advised that there were gunshots at Pine Bluff High School. The gunshots were coming from in or near a parking lot to the South of the McGeorge building near the southern edge of the campus.

One male has been detained for questioning.

At the time of this release, no person or property is known to have been hit by the gunfire. The male who had been detained is a juvenile. He is being questioned at the time of this release.

Pine Bluff High School did follow their lockdown protocol when the gunshots were reported.


Jefferson County Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. has informed Deltaplex News that at least one suspect has been apprehended.

“I was literally in the drive-thru of Relyance Bank on Poplar when gunshots could be heard near W. 11th Avenue near Pine Bluff High School,” said Woods Jr. “I responded at the same time officers from my agency and Pine Bluff Police Department arrived. At last check, a search was being conducted to locate the specific scene. Meanwhile, a description of a black male with dreadlocks, wearing a dark colored hoodie was BOLO’d. At least one suspect fitting the description was apprehended. The scene is still being processed, as we try to develop more on this.”

Law enforcement agencies are reporting that no one was hit in the shooting. The incident has been described as parties shooting towards one another with no one struck.

The shooting has been confirmed to have happened on the campus of Pine Bluff High School.

School will dismiss at 3:45 p.m. and all after school activities are canceled.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are actively investigating a shooting in the area of Pine Bluff High School.

There is limited information available at this time. It is unknown if there are any injuries at this time.
