Two Southeast Arkansas men were arrested Tuesday after they allegedly were seen removing parts from a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Colton Knight, 27, of Hampton and Justin Creech, 29, of Camden were taken into custody after police were sent to the area of 24th Avenue and Spruce Street.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Natalie McCool said Knight and Creech were reportedly taking parts off a 2002 Honda Accord that was on a U-Haul dolly attached to a truck.

Creech told police Knight drove the truck while he slept in the passenger seat and the license plate that was on the vehicle was taken off a broken down Honda belonging to Knight’s girlfriend.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $5,000 bond for Knight and Creech Thursday after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge them with theft by receiving. Both men said they would hire their own attorneys.
