Two Sheridan residents were killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 270 near Ashley Road in Jefferson County Tuesday.
According to a preliminary report, a 2008 Chevrolet driven by Angel Hatten, 46, was westbound when the vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a 2017 Ford driven by Stephanie Hinkle head-on.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley pronounced Hatten dead at the scene at 6:37 p.m., and a passenger in her car, Bekiger Morales, 12, was pronounced dead two minutes later.
Hinkle and a passenger in her vehicle, Handle Hinkle, 12, were injured and taken to a Little Rock hospital for treatment.
The accident was reported at 5:38 p.m. and the two deaths bring to 540 the number of people killed on the state’s highways so far this year.
