Wednesday is United Way Day on Oldies 1013 and this week, Morning Show host Greg Horne talked with United Way Director Jason Duren about the estimated 400 Jefferson County employees who did not get paid because of a dispute between County Judge Gerald Robinson and County Clerk Shawndra Taggart.

Horne described it as a “serious deal. There might be some of them living paycheck to paycheck and they might be in real trouble. What should they do.”

Duren responded this way.

“Somebody once talked about the working poor,” Horne said. “These are the people I have a heart for.”

Duren went on to say this.
