A Texas man was killed in a one-vehicle accident in rural Hempstead County Wednesday.
According to a preliminary report, Stev Michael Martin Jr., 25, of Texarkana, Texas was eastbound on Interstate 30 at a high rate of speed in the left lane when the 2020 Kia Sportage he was driving veered to the right and left the roadway, striking two large trees before coming to a stop.
Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident was reported at 9:12 p.m., and the death was the 474th so far this year on the state’s highways.
