Last week, voters in Pine Bluff rejected a bid to extend the five-eights cent sales tax, commonly called the Go Forward tax, and a three-eights cent permanent tax devoted to public safety by wide margins.

Current State Representative Vivian Flowers, who is running for Mayor, was asked her thoughts on the taxes when she appeared on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show Tuesday.

Flowers said supporters of the tax compared it to a similar tax in El Dorado but supporters of the tax in El Dorado proposed their tax with timelines and a budget and with the El Dorado Promise Scholarships and the Pine Bluff tax didn’t have any of those things.

Morning Show Host Greg Horne asked Flowers what her priorities are and she answered this way.

Flowers then went on to say this.
