Skyrocketing egg prices or even shortages could be coming

The largest producer of eggs in the U.S. said it is shutting down production temporarily after bird flu was discovered in chickens in both it’s Texas and Michigan plants. Cal-Maine Foods, based in Mississippi said almost 1.6 million laying hens and 337,000 pullets had to be euthanized after the infection was discovered at their plant in Parmer County, Texas. The company sells most of it’s eggs in the Southwest, Southeast,  Midwest and Mid-Atlantic Regions of the country.
