A $5,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Sherrill man accused of breaking into an apartment on Monday and having an altercation with a female.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Milton Baker, 28, with residential burglary.

Reading from an affidavit from Detective Mike Merritt, Deputy Prosecutor Mircha King said police were sent to an apartment in the 2500 block of Main Street where they found evidence that Baker had committed a residential burglary.

When Baker was interviewed, he said he knocked on the door, but the victim slammed it in his face, so he kicked the door frame and the door came off its hinges. He admitted getting into a physical altercation with the victim and taking her phone and the child.

Baker was ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case is settled and told to come back to court Sept. 1.
